From The
The Real Deal
The role of backbencher on Parliament Hill can
be a lonely one. MPs who are a member of the
government party, but don’t hold a position in
Cabinet, often appear to be as isolated as those
who sit with the third party who are only allowed
to make their points during question period.
Fortunately, here in
who, despite not holding a powerful portfolio, is
able to have his voice heard and affect change.
That MP is Paul Szabo.
The Mississauga South representative has been
a tireless campaigner for family values since
the first time he was elected. Along the way,
Szabo has managed to bring into the spotlight
issues surrounding domestic violence, fetal
alcohol syndrome, child poverty and stem cell
research, just to name a few. Now he is fighting
on behalf of seniors. …
Szabo gets full marks for being up front with his
platform, saying what he means and not
waffling on issues. These are characteristics
that are not usually associated with politicians.
The Mississauga News has disagreed with him
on many issues, but we admire his resolve and
honesty.
