Drink Smart Canada is a national public education and awareness campaign which seeks to promote the responsible use of alcohol. Our unique strategy concentrates not on the abusers of alcohol but rather on those who are in their company.

Our message is …

"If you are with a friend, family member or acquaintance who is drinking and becoming at risk of hurting themselves or others, you should intervene in an appropriate fashion to make sure that they do not become just another tragic statistic."

Our Honourary Patrons include:

· The Canadian Police Association
· The Canadian Association of Fire Chiefs
· The Canadian Nurses Association
· The Canadian Medical Association

The most recent Drink Smart initiative is on Fetal Alcohol Syndrome or FAS. Under the "MY BOOKS" link you will find the book entitled "Fetal Alcohol Syndrome - The Real Brain Drain" which provides substantial information about this subject. If you are associated with an FAS group, please send me an email or letter so that I can keep you informed about our progress. The Minister of Health has asked me to consult with his FAS Advisory Group and I am hopeful that a new national awareness program will be launched this year.

Below you will find a copy of the Drink Smart Brochure and 2 posters which we have circulated across Canada. Your input on issues related to responsible use of alcohol would be very welcome.
